CBPS compliance is not a one-time event, it is an ongoing process. Under the CBPS, building owners and operators must recertify every 5 years.

  Manager. The CBPS requires ongoing energy monitoring and

• Confirm that your building’s EUI stays at or below target

2. Update Your Energy Management Plan Annually

• Keep your EMP current. It is a living document that must be
  maintained over time
• At minimum update:
  • Annual energy use and EUI
  • Occupancy and operating hours
  • Building use or type change
  • Implemented or planned energy efficiency projects

3. Maintain Your Operations & Maintenance Program

• Keep documentation current as systems change
• Update for:
  • New or replaced equipment
  • Changes in building operation
• Continue documenting:
  • Preventative maintenance activities
  • Inspection schedule and results

4. Track Building Changes That Impact Energy Use

• Keep a record of any changes that could affect performance
• Equipment upgrades or replacements
• Tenant improvement or space-use changes
• Schedule or occupancy changes.
• Control system or operational adjustments

• Benchmarking data
• Updated EMP
